Thank you for showing interest in FLO! We are the University of Texas at Austin’s Freshman Leadership Organization. Don’t forget to view us on all social media platforms here!
What is Freshman Leadership Organization?
FLO is a agency under Student Government. We aim to provide members with leadership and networking skills necessary to become outstanding leaders. We bring freshmen of all backgrounds, interests, and majors together while providing them with a positive, friendly environment in which we teach them how to maximize their leadership potential both on and off campus during their stay at the University of Texas.
We host weekly meetings at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, in JGB Auditorium. At these meetings we have fun icebreakers to familiarize you with your peers that have similar interests. We also host informational speakers so that you may learn about the other organizations on campus you’re potentially interested in as well as resources that are available to you. After each meeting, we travel as a group (usually on foot) to an Austin restaurant to have FLinner (FLO+dinner).
We offer socials that range from Blazertag to Midnight Rodeo and community service events, from walking dogs with Austin Pets Alive to volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club. Socials are a great way to take a break from a school, have fun, and get to know Austin and service events are a wonderful way to build your resume as well as give back to the city of Austin.
The best part is, FLO has no application and no fees. We only hope to serve as a resource for freshmen. We know how hard freshman year is… we’ve all been there (and not that long ago). All you have to do to become a member is sign up for the FLO-down and come to one meeting.
We’ve got tons of ideas for the incoming class of freshmen – all geared towards making your freshmen experience the best it can possibly be along with discovering who you are not only as a person, but as a leader.
